INTRODUCING ALONA

INTRODUCING ALONA

Raised in circus, refined through balance

Some athletes discover handstands later in life. For @a.zhuravel_on_hands, balance was never a hobby. It was home.

Born into a circus family, Alona grew up surrounded by performance, discipline, and artistry. Her mother was among the first female handbalancers of her time. Her father came from a gymnastics background before performing a high bar act. For Alona, stepping into their footsteps was not really a choice. It was simply the natural path.

Growing up on her hands

Circus was not just a profession in her family, it was a language. Technique, stage presence, control, repetition. These were normal parts of childhood.

That early exposure shaped her relationship with movement. Handstands were not about social media clips or quick progress. They were about precision, feeling, and mastery. Over the years, Alona refined her craft both as a performer and as a coach, building a reputation for elegant lines, calm control, and technical depth.

Through her platform Handstand Teacher Training Sweden 2026, she now shares that knowledge with coaches and dedicated practitioners who want to understand handbalancing beyond surface-level drills.

Current focus: growth inside and out

Despite her experience, Alona does not train to prove something. Her current goal is simple and honest. She wants to keep learning every year.

Mentally, she aims to become calmer and less anxious. Physically, she wants to reconnect with deeper flexibility. Strength has always been there, but softness and range are now just as important.

This shift reflects maturity. Training is no longer about chasing extremes. It is about longevity.

Teaching by example

One of her biggest motivations is her students. As a coach, she regularly demonstrates skills and techniques. That requires her to stay sharp and continue developing her own practice.

But there is also curiosity. She genuinely wants to know how far the body can evolve. How refined can balance become? How effortless can control feel? That question keeps her engaged.

On her Instagram, you see more than difficult skills. You see quality. Attention to detail. Quiet authority. The kind of balance that looks soft but is built on decades of discipline.

An oasis, not a battlefield

Alona’s mindset around training stands out.

She believes many people get caught up in pushing for the sake of pushing. More reps. Harder drills. Constant intensity. She chooses a different perspective.

For her, training is an oasis. A space where the outside noise disappears. When she balances, there is no overthinking. Only awareness of alignment, breath, and comfort in the position.

That does not mean it is easy. It means it is intentional.

She also carries this philosophy into her teaching. It is not about making students’ lives harder. It is about making complex things clearer. Simpler. More accessible. She believes in how things are done, not just in ticking boxes and completing exercises.

Legacy and evolution

Coming from a circus lineage could easily create pressure. Instead, it seems to have given Alona perspective. She respects tradition, but she is not trapped by it. She evolves.

Her journey is not about loud statements or dramatic transformations. It is about refinement. Year after year, adjusting, softening, strengthening, and deepening her understanding of balance.

In a world that often celebrates extremes, Alona represents something different. Precision. Calm. Sustainability. A lifelong relationship with being upside down.

And perhaps that is what true mastery looks like.
